Campus Construction Alert: Parking Advisory

News, General News, Announcement

On September 3, 2013, construction of the Adelphi University Nexus building is scheduled to begin. While this new building will bring a state-of-the-art classroom and academic building to the campus, and ultimately add 300 additional parking spots when completed in August 2015, we do anticipate a disruption to normal campus parking operations during construction. In fact, we will be closing the Levermore parking lot (known as Parking Field #1) as of 7:00 a.m. September 3rd for the duration of the construction. All other entrances to the Garden City Campus will be available. Faculty, employees, students and visitors who need to access the campus during the hours of 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. will have to enter the campus at the temporary Public Safety booth located adjacent to the University Center off of South Ave (Parking Field #2).

To help mitigate this impact and free up parking space on campus, we have developed employee and student parking programs. As a reminder, the terms of the program are as follows:

  • Eligible employees who have enrolled in the off campus parking incentive program must pick up their new parking decal no later than September 1, 2013 in the Office of Public Safety and begin parking at the 11th Street location between Washington Avenue and County Seat Drive on Wednesday, August 28, 2013. Shuttle service will be provided. No applications will be considered after August 28, 2013.

  • Resident Freshman and Sophomore students must pick up their new parking decal no later than August 30, 2013 in the Office of Public Safety and begin parking in Parking Field # 9 (Garden City Pool) beginning Tuesday, September 3, 2013. Shuttle service will be provided.

  • Faculty may park on campus as usual.
