Site work has begun on the Levermore parking lot.

Site work has begun on the Levermore parking lot. Part of this work includes the removal of light posts, benches, blacktop, and trees and shrubs.

It is with great sadness that the spectacular Beech trees are to be removed. Prior to undertaking any work on the site, an external arborist assessment of the trees was commissioned. This report indicated that these trees had reached the end of their lifecycle and were only viable for another 12 to 24 months at which point they would have needed to be removed.

We understand that parking has been a difficult issue, especially on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. The University is aggressively exploring options to help alleviate the challenges. Please check this site frequently for updates, but in the meantime, we hope you will consider revisiting carpool options many of you opted for post-Sandy or if possible public transportation. Be assured this matter is receiving the highest level of attention and we ask for your patience and cooperation as alternatives are pursued.
