Praise for Poet Award

Praise Odigie, a sophomore Communications Major, won the “Things I’ll Never Say” contest sponsored by Educators for Fair Consideration for her poem, “How an Undocumented Immigrant Looks at America.” Praise was flown to San Francisco where she hobnobbed with four other award winners and a wide array of successful artists and journalists. Praise continues her work on a video documentary on undocumented immigrants, “Life in the Shadows.” A video of Praise reading her poem can be accessed at www.thingsillneversay.org.

This piece appeared in the Communications Newsletter Spring 2013 edition.
