Derner Ph.D. alumni are invited to donate their scholarly publications to this new collection.

Adelphi University currently holds more than 40 special collections in its library. The newest is the Derner Alumni Collection—a joint project of the Derner Ph.D. Alumni Chapter and University Archives and Special Collections.

“The Derner Alumni Collection has been established to showcase the tremendous accomplishments of the alumni of the Derner Institute and Adelphi University,” said David Ranzan, University archivist and special collections librarian. “As the collection grows, it will serve as a testament to the legacy of Gordon Derner, his philosophy and teaching.  It will be a repository of new and groundbreaking scholarship in the field of clinical psychology.”

While Adelphi has copies of all doctoral dissertations, the new collection gives Derner alumni a way to let friends, colleagues and the world at large know about their scholarly achievements since graduation.

Since the collection’s launch in September 2015, three Derner doctoral alumni have donated nine scholarly works and many more have been pledged. Donations of books, book chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals where at least one author holds a Ph.D. from the Derner Institute are welcome.

The immediate goal is to have 25 donations by June 30, 2016. Once this goal is reached, there will be a special exhibit in the Swirbul Library Gallery. The long-range goal is to have at least 120 donations of scholarly works.
