IT Student Worker of the Month

Announcement

Sharmila SamwaruThe staff of the Office of Information Technology would like to congratulate

Sharmila Samwaru

Student Worker of the Month for October 2013

Sharmila has been working with Adelphi IT since Fall 2011 and is a a valuable part of the Webteam, assisting with website content, design and production.

She is a nursing major and expects to graduate in 2015. Sharmila is an active member of campus clubs, including Circle K International, CALIBER and Write Out Loud.

Here are some of the comments we received from IT staff members and other student workers who nominated Sharmila:

“Sharmila has become an integral part of our team and is now our most senior student worker. She has been warm and welcoming in leading other students who have come on board after her.  Even though her major is nursing, she loves to tackle lots of different assignments for the web, from design to code challenges. She’s also been very quick to pick up on our new WordPress system. I look forward to seeing her in our little alcove on the days she’s working.”

“Apart from Sharmila’s positive attitude and glowing personality, she is an extremely hard worker and strives to master each task placed in front of her. She’s incredibly responsible, and our team can truly depend on her.”

“We have seen Sharmila grow, not only as an employee but as a person over the last three years. She is a very quick learner. She is also very consistent in her work.  I know that I can always depend on her to get the job done quickly and correct.”

“I recently started working at IT and Sharmila has helped me feel extremely welcomed. Anytime I have a question, she is always willing to answer it. She goes the extra mile to teach me things that will help me in my new position. Sharmila is a great example not only for her co-workers but for others as well. I have recently learned that Sharmila is having an extremely busy semester. She is a nursing major and has now started her clinicals. However, even with all of her other responsibilities, she always gets to work on time and does her work well! “

“Sharmila has worked with us the longest of any of our students, and has set a stellar example for our newer student workers by being consistently reliable, responsible, and dependable. She is good-natured, hard-working, and focused on her goals, and has a clear dedication to helping those around her – important qualities for a future medical professional! We’re sure she’ll be successful at whatever she puts her mind to.”

“Sharmila is a very friendly and determined person. She always has a smile on her face. She is a great team player. She is always ready to help others. “

“Sharmila is a very sweet person and enthusiastic worker. She’s very friendly and working with her is always a pleasure.”
