An alumna honors Dean Ruth S. Harley ’24, ’50 (Hon.), with a bequest and a gift from her IRA.

Sally-Ann Cohen ’55 planned to drop out of high school until a teacher, Margaret V. Cameron ’16, persuaded her to compete for an Adelphi scholarship and a New York State Regents Scholarship. She won both, enrolled at Adelphi and went on to become a celebrity talent coordinator on television shows such as Hollywood Squares, DINAH! and The Billy Crystal Comedy Hour. She credits Dean Ruth S. Harley ’24, ’50 (Hon.), and Ms. Cameron for making her college and professional careers possible.

Recently, she honored both women through an outright bequest and her IRA.

“I owe both women a debt of gratitude and never properly thanked them. By contributing to the endowment funds in their names, I can honor their memories and help future students benefit from the same kinds of opportunities they made sure I received at Adelphi,” she says.
