Stay up-to-date on exciting changes at the FCPE.

It has been a busy and exciting fall at the FCPE. Aside from opening our newly renovated, state-of-the-art Faculty Center, we have officially commenced work at our brand new Media Center, adding professional production services, media-integrated teaching solutions, iTunes University support and assistance, and more, to the list of services available to our growing community.

In addition to managing a healthy and diverse roster of traditional workshops (e.g., Moodle, Adobe Connect), Distance Learning Specialist Susan Lambert and Instructional Technologist Ben Rosner have been spearheading a number of exiting new projects. Ms. Lambert is preparing a workshop on how to develop ADA compliant, easy-to-use online courses for students with disabilities, including best practices and Universal Instructional Design. This work helps Adelphi’s faculty to better serve a classically underserved segment of the population, empowering both students and teachers to create a more robust, interactive learning experience for people unable to participate in a traditional learning environment. It’s truly important work.

Mr. Rosner also has a long list of exciting new projects. Among other things, he is managing the integration of the Google productivity suite with faculty teaching and service, developing department-wide Moodle course sites, expanding Adelphi’s use of Clickers in the classroom, and customizing aspects of Moodle to make it increasingly user-friendly, in line with the University’s goal to have the majority of courses Moodle-managed by the end of 2015. He is also working with Alexis Seeley in the Media Center to develop iPad curriculum featuring interactive design.

Instructional Designer Rui Huang is in the midst of redesigning the FCPE website. The new site will feature a new design, greater uniformity, and integration of new content, including multimedia content produced by the expanded Media Center.

The Media Center continues to develop and advise on new ways to integrate video production and media solutions into lesson plan development. Upcoming projects include a documentary profile of the School of Nursing, and various promotional films and faculty profiles.

Stay tuned for more exciting changes.
