Adelphi Clinical Assistant Professor Stephen Shore will be a speaker at the College Internship Program Berkshire group on November 12. The presentation will address issues facing students in grade school through higher education who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders and other learning differences, including self-advocacy, sensory issues and success in higher education.

Associate Professor Rakesh Gupta drew an interested audience for his lecture, “South India Land of Temples, Tech, and Medical Tourism.”on November 4. He showed photographs and shared travel experiences from his frequent trips to India. According to Professor Gupta, southern India is currently excelling in the field of technology and has become a “hub for international software, information technology and computer firms.”

Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Denmark to the United Nations Ib Petersen will be coming to Adelphi on November 19 to give a lecture at 11:00 a.m. at the Angello Alumni House. Petersen will deliver the talk, “Denmark—Small State Actor with Big Global Engagement” as part of the Ambassador Lecture Series and International Education Week celebration.

New First Nation Documentary Film to Be Showcased at Adelphi University on November 18

Adelphi will showcase the New First Nation Documentary Film on November 18 in commemoration of Native American Heritage Month. The hour-long film showcases the settlement of indigenous lands from the perspective of First Nation people by examining the cause and effects of an ancient doctrine that permitted Europeans to conquer lands and peoples around the world.

The Adelphi Breast Cancer Hotline’s Creative Cups initiative has won the LIBN Health Care Heroes Award in the community outreach category. The Creative Cups Project is designed to help those affected by Breast Cancer. Participants design and build original works of art using bras, which are exhibited and auctioned at a Gala reception in the spring.

New first nation documentary film to be showcased

Scotty Stirling, Former N.B.A. and Team Executive, Dies at 86

Alumnus Scotty Stirling, a former National Basketball Association vice president for operations and a longtime team executive and scout, died on Wednesday in Sacramento at the age of 86. Sterling acted as general manager for the NY Knicks, the Sacramento Kings, as well as the 1967 American Football League champion Oakland Raiders.

Adelphi to host revolving art exhibit

Adelphi University presents Here and Gone: Excerpts from the University Art Collection through December 23 at the AUPAC. The exhibit will feature more than 100 selections of works from each of the various collections: prints, paintings, photographs, musical instruments, African implements, sculpture, ceramics and drawings.

Troupe to perform musical ‘Pinkalicious’

Special family programming returns to AUPAC with Pinkalicious, The Musical. Based on the best-selling children’s books, this youthful, endearing and thoughtful piece will be performed on Saturday, November 14 at 2:00 p.m. on the Westermann Stage in the Concert Hall located at AUPAC, 1 South Avenue, Garden City. This musical performance lasts approximately one hour and is specially designed to delight children 2 to 7 years old and their families.
