Farmworker conditions in Hudson Valley discussed at Culinary event

Adelphi Associate Professor Margaret Gray was part of a panel discussion on farmworker conditions at the Culinary Institute of America. Gray explored conditions surrounding area farm workers in her book Labor and the Locavore: The Making of a Comprehensive Food Ethic and interviewed Hudson Valley farm workers and farmers as part of her research.

Community Club hosts presentation on Southern India

Associate Professor Rakesh Gupta spoke about Southern India at the Garden City Community meeting on November 4. He showed photographs and shared travel experiences from his frequent trips to India. Originally from northern India, Professor Gupta has traveled to the country for business and for pleasure. For the past several years, he has returned to India twice a year and has visited 17 of its 29 states via plane, train, elephant and camel.

The group brings to AUPAC their “Restless” Love program, which includes a rich selection of rarely heard Italian madrigals, German songs from the group’s home in Leipzig and a unique collection of folk songs from around the world, including the Philippines.
