Adelphi recognized by The Education Trust as a “Top 25 Gainers in Hispanic Student Graduation Rates Among Private Institutions” in their “Advancing to Completion: Increasing degree attainment by improving graduation rates and closing gaps for Hispanic students”–Report Released September 20, 2012

Adelphi University Statement on this Recognition

The Education Trust’s spotlight on our students’ accomplishments affirms our efforts and demonstrates that our focus on student success is reaping rewards for students and their families. This is especially important progress because we have seen our Hispanic undergraduate enrollment increase by 53% from fall 2010 to fall 2012. We will sustain our commitment to ensuring these new students, along with all our undergraduates, persevere through graduation.

To achieve this goal, we have expanded our internships programs, supported student research undertaken in collaboration with faculty, enhanced student services, ensured the strength of our academic programs, and kept tuition increases well below the national average.  Simultaneously we have seen increased participation in campus student clubs and activities and expanded alumni engagement for Hispanic students. We know that stronger student engagement with campus leaders, faculty, peers, and alumni leads to improved student persistence and higher graduation rates.

At a time when our communities are increasingly diverse, such positive results enhance our classrooms, our neighborhoods, and our economy. In the last decade, Adelphi has made student success—as defined by retention and graduation for all our students—an institutional priority and, along with the report’s good news for Hispanics, we now also have one of the strongest graduation rates of  local private colleges.
