Adelphi University to Host Seminar Focused on Emergent Innovation

News, Press Release

With the increasing emphasis on innovation in organizations, researchers are beginning to explore new ways for thinking about innovation. The Adelphi University Robert B. Willumstad School of Business is proud to host two professors from Mälardalen University, Eskilstuna, Sweden who will lead a seminar on “Emergent Innovation Through University/Industry Collaboration,” to take place on October 17, 2012, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Ruth S. Harley University Center room 212, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY. Tomas Backstrom is a professor of Innovation and Product Realization (IPR) and research leader. Erik Lindhult is a professor of Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship (IPR). Emergent innovation is increasingly recognized as a critical driver of success in complex markets. It involves seeking out, recognizing and promoting innovative activities already at work in the organization.

University/Industry research collaboration is a globally growing trend in business education. In this seminar, Professors Tomas Backstrom and Erik Lindhult will discuss what they learned while they pursued ground-breaking research through collaborative relationships with global market leaders including Ericsson and global technology group ABB. Both of these scholars are pioneers in this area and have agreed to share their successes and setbacks. They worked to establish and nurture long term relationships with industry leaders while furthering their own scholarly research agendas.

The Robert B. Willumstad School of Business is focused on developing ethical, effective leaders in the industry. Our professors are industry leaders themselves, and the classroom experience is only the beginning. We offer real-world connections and opportunities through corporate internships and mentorships—opportunities that can change your life both personally and professionally.
