Anthony proves that by keeping his networking events and GPA a priority, dreams can come true.

“Get involved on campus. We stress that to students.”—Anthony Moneta

For Anthony Moneta, a senior enrolled in the B.B.A. in Accounting/M.B.A. five-year program, having an intelligent foundation in his chosen field is his top priority. But even more important are his networking events, his internships and the professional relationships they produce.

As an intern at Marks Paneth & Shron LLP, Anthony was placed in a not-for-profit auditing department where he has acquired valuable experience within the office and gained client exposure.

“I’ve learned so much, and it goes well when you pair it with what you’ve learned in the classroom. This has helped me grow professionally,” he said, explaining that the internship also helped him secure his next internship at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) in the summer of 2013.

Not only is Anthony gaining exposure through his internships, he has also been involved in Adelphi’s Accounting Society for four years, and is currently acting president.

Genius is too modest a word when it comes to his work as the group’s figurehead. Anthony has helped himself and his accounting peers by working with the University’s Center for Career Development to form business contacts and relationships.

“We work together with the career center and find out who they want to bring onto campus. We reach out to those firms, reach out to their recruiters, their partners and managers so they can come speak to our students,” Anthony said.

While this outreach allows him and society members to learn about the likes and dislikes of hiring recruiters, it also gives every Adelphi student the ability to find out about the company during campus visits.

“Your education is very important, but also what Adelphi provides you with are things like this—networking. This is just as important as getting your degree and [keeping] your GPA up. Get involved on campus. We stress that to students,” he said.

Panther proud and ready to succeed, Anthony hopes to be hired full time at PwC after he graduates. Until he’s offered the job, the ambition he harbors assures us he’ll be working toward his dream.
