Efforts are underway to minimize the impact of the noisiest phase of construction, which is likely to last nine to ten months.

We are making good progress on the project and we remain on schedule for a fall 2015 opening. However, we anticipate the current phase of site work and exterior construction to be the noisiest. This phase will include pile driving, the use of heavy equipment, the raising of steel beams, pouring of cement, etc. and should take approximately nine to ten months. We do recognize that this phase can present a disruption to the routine campus living and working environments. The current pile driving work is scheduled to be finished by approximately December 12 (weather dependent) in advance of finals, at which point we will hold off on the next phase until after the exam period.

When we resume work on the site, construction is scheduled to take place only between hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, keeping quiet hours in the evening for students in the residence halls and the library. It will not take place on nights and weekends unless it is absolutely necessary.

The safety, well-being and comfort of our resident students during construction is a top priority. While the construction of the Nexus Building and Welcome Center is underway, if a residential student has a specific concern about residential living, they are encouraged to contact their Residents Assistant (RA) or Residence Hall Director (RHD). We take student satisfaction seriously and understand that students may have concerns to bring to our attention.

We are currently on track to have the Nexus Building and Welcome Center, a brand new state-of-the-art facility that will be home to essential student services and ultimately add back over 300 parking spots, online by fall 2015. We continue to appreciate the patience of students, faculty and staff and wish all a wonderful Thanksgiving.
