Dr. Scott responds to the tragedy of September 11. 2001.

By Robert A. Scott, President, Adelphi University

Dear Friends:

This has been a tragic week for the world, for our country, and for our community. We at Adelphi are shocked and saddened by the terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C., which claimed the lives of people from around the globe.

I am sorry to report that the University has lost members of its own community who were working at the World Trade Center on the morning of September 11. We offer our condolences to the families and friends of those who were killed in New York, in Washington, and in Pennsylvania, and extend our prayers for all of those who are still missing.

Since the attacks, I have asked that we operate in Garden City as normally as possible. Classes at our New York City sites were postponed, but will resume on Thursday, September 20, 2001. As the people of America carry on with their lives and their work, Adelphi too will move forward.

However, our thoughts and hearts will be with those affected by this tragedy as we continue to mourn with others.

Sincerely,

Robert A. Scott
President
