Guidance may have evolved. Visit our COVID-19 website for the current information.

Dear Adelphi Community,

As you know, we are committed to sharing the latest coronavirus information with our community.

Fortunately, we continue to have no known cases at Adelphi.

As many of you have likely seen, a handful of new cases have been confirmed in the Nassau County region. Additionally, we do know that a small number of individuals in our own community have decided to self-isolate out of an abundance of caution, given recent travels and activities. Please be reassured by the guidance of health experts and officials, and also by the determined commitment of Adelphi University to take every precaution to protect your health, safety and well-being. In the event that a member of our University community does develop COVID-19, officials will not delay in alerting both the individual(s) and the leadership of Adelphi. At that time, we will communicate and work quickly and closely with you and health officials to take every step necessary to protect our students, faculty and staff.

If you are concerned and seek additional guidance:

  • Learn simple steps you can take here.
  • Talk with your faculty/academic advisers.
  • Contact your doctor or the Health Services Center to learn how you can protect your health.
  • Visit the Student Counseling Center if you have concerns or anxiety.
  • Employees: Talk with your Human Resources partner and your supervisor to plan for flexibility.

Students with physician-verified conditions that place them at higher risk can contact the Office of Academic Services and Retention to discuss medical accommodations and next steps.

Please be assured that our executive, academic and faculty leaders are putting contingency plans in place for remote teaching and learning so that, should the COVID-19 outbreak more directly impact Adelphi, we can continue working and learning.

Your well-being continues to be our highest priority. We will continue to communicate with you any time we have relevant new information. Please watch your emails from University leadership and visit our online information page at adelphi.edu/coronavirus for updates.

Sincerely,

R. Sentwali Bakari, PhD
Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
